individuals, families, businesses, and small groups. We will take you
and your party on an adventure that precisely fits your needs and
expectations. All you have to do is imagine your perfect Rocky Mountain outing, and tell us about it. We will take care of the rest! Of course, you will understand that we may be unable to literally move mountains, but our commitment to service means that we will endeavour to everything else.

families, businesses and small groups. Whether you want to escape on a
week-long backpacking trip or simply spend a long weekend doing day-hikes from
the comfort of a backcountry lodge, our custom adventures allow you to plan
your own Rocky Mountain adventure.

Like all of our trips, Back of Beyond's Custom Adventures include
local, certified interpretive guides who are eager to share their knowledge
about the area's natural and human history. Our guides will enlighten you about
some of the finer points of wilderness travel, and prepare hearty backcountry
meals that will keep your motor running and your taste buds delighted. Our
experienced guides are trained in wilderness first aid, helping to ensure your
safety while you are out "in the back of beyond."
Do not worry about hauling your own equipment with you on
holidays. Back of Beyond's custom backpacking trips also provide all the
necessary camping equipment you will need to keep you safe and comfortable out
on the trail. We also provide return transportation between your accommodation
in Canmore/Banff and the trailhead.
Backpacking (Camping)
 We can offer a guideline price for your custom backpack
since food, guide, transportation, rentals and park fees are all standard.
Please keep in mind that some backcountry campgrounds do fill up so book early
to keep all options open.

+- 10% discount for parties of four or more
The trip will graphically demonstrate the need to maintain
wilderness areas not only through National, Provincial Parks and "Special
Places" designations, but also through ecological buffer zones around these
national treasures. The timeless grandeur of this Canadian Rocky Mountain
wilderness will be revealed to you much as it existed in bygone years. This is
an extraordinary adventure for vacationers who seek the uncommon!
 Family Trips
Safety, Fun, Adventure for Everyone!
Many parents feel that it is just too difficult to backpack with their children. However, if you have extra help with carrying equipment, organizing and preparing meals, and setting up camp while ensuring their safety, family backpacking becomes not only feasible but also an excellent exercise in families working together to achieve a tangible goal. What's more, it's fun! Our local, certified interpretive guides will help motivate your children, and share a wealth of knowledge and stories that will keep children of all ages captivated.
The hut, backpack and day hiking tours will be completely
customized for your family, and the itinerary established with varying ages,
abilities, strengths, and interests as the criteria. Each request will need to
be individually priced.

Custom comfort and hiking
adventures
Use one of Canmore's fine bed and breakfast establishments as your home base as you adventure into the Canadian Rockies on foot. An interpretive guide will accompany you, bringing the region's history to life, helping you to identify the things you are seeing, and ensuring that you and yours are practicing safe mountain travel procedures. These adventures are available from May through September. You may start on any weekday but must register for two consecutive days. You can book as many days as you would like. This innovative idea allows the flexibility to fit our packages into your personal time frame.
 Custom Day Hikes
Imagine yourself skirting the toe of Emerald Glacier while across
the valley, Canada's fourth highest waterfall seems to thunders from the sky.
Imagine yourself hiking through Healy Meadow, the Monarch towering above your
head and yellow glacier lilies blanketing the ground beneath your feet. Imagine
yourself walking through stands of golden larch in the high alpine country
below Stanley Glacier.
Let Back of Beyond help make your dreams come true. We offer day
hikes in world-famous Banff, Yoho and Kootenay National Parks, as well as the
relatively untouched wilderness of Kananaskis Country and Peter Lougheed
Provincial Park. We will take you to "the back of beyond" by getting you off
the beaten path to enjoy high alpine meadows, azure lakes, top-of-the-world
passes and the silent power of the area's many glaciers.
At Back of Beyond, we believe there are too many paths in the
Rockies to need to hike the same one twice. We design our day trips so you
avoid backtracking. This means that on one trip you might walk a ridge along
the Continental Divide, hike through pristine meadows rich with wildflowers,
and follow a glacier-fed stream through thick forests of spruce and fir. All
this, in just one day!
Back of Beyond's local interpretive guides bring the natural and
human history of the Rockies to life. Our experienced guides have a passion for
the mountains and will explain everything from how tectonic forces shaped the
Rocky Mountains to the ecological relationships between, say grizzly bears and
cow parsnip. By providing proper pacing, frequent rest stops, and adequate food
and water, our guides make these challenging daylong journeys pure pleasure.
Back of Beyond believes that in order to help maintain the
ecological integrity of the Rocky Mountains, groups using the backcountry
should be kept small. We limit the size of our groups to a maximum of 8 people,
providing you with a personalized adventure through one of the most beautiful
landscapes in the world.
